It was raining, but we went to the zoo anyway. SO worth it. Baby tigers! Baby pandas! All out and about. We did miss the pallas cat again. I even asked the info booth lady, and she didn't know where they'd moved it. I WILL see that pallas cat again.
Lots of photos...well, some photos. I got a short video of a baby panda walking around, so I didn't have much memory for photos.
First we have the orangutan. We saw an awesomely dreadlocked male, but he hid in a cave before I got the camera out. This one was friendlier, hanging out by the glass where the little kiddies were.

There are a lot of warthogs of various kinds at the zoo. We saw some babies with their punk-haired mama:

Then the tigers. OMG there were baby tigers. Three very muddy cubs. I had at hard time getting non-blurry photos.

Their ma was beating the shit out of this ball:

We saw some happy wading tapirs:

And the notorious land hippo. (Actually, the hippo pool was so cloudy from the rain that we couldn't even see them, so this is the best substitute:

The polar bears were having some serious chill time. This was one was so sleepy.

I love these guys:

But not as much as THESE guys. They look like a creature of some Norwegian folktale:

These guys were EVERYWHERE, hanging out on top of the raptor enclosures like little punks:

This is horrible pic, but this jaguar was just so, so gorgeous. Take my word for it.

And then the pandas! This is Su Lin. Last time we saw her, she was as big as my head, and still climbing to the top of trees:

Momma eating:

And the new baby:

And a video of her toddling:

Date: 2008-12-04 06:07 am (UTC)That baby panda is the cutest thing I've ever seen. It's like a walking blob. It looks like if you squeezed it, it would go "shquoo."
Now! An explanation. I'm Yuval from Fictionpress.com. I was just waddling around bad_rpers_suck and I saw your username; I went "good heavens", because I'd never seen that name anywhere else, and I followed it, and there you were! Amazing. It's a small internet.
(PS - what is that gingery hoglike creature? I've never seen anything like it.)

Date: 2008-12-04 04:05 pm (UTC)The one good thing about this username is that it is NEVER taken so I use it everywhere. Would you mind if I friend you? That way, I'll have a place to have hysterics if you take down Things We'll Miss again.

Date: 2008-12-04 10:43 pm (UTC)It's a pretty username and deserves to be used everywhere. And I don't mind if you friend me. I try to gather up as many friends as possible so I can reassure my mother that I'm "popular on the internet." Do you mind if I friend you?
